Bill Mann reports that Memorial Day Activities are on track. Alex Stephenson, LTC US Army will be the main speaker. If you plan to march in the parade please note that transportation will be available from the cemetery to the Post. The parade will begin on Janes Ave (Behind town Hall) at 9:30 AM and march down to Baxter Park in time to begin the Ceremony at 10:00 AM. Brief stops are made at Vine Lake to honor those who died at sea and then at the Veterans Grave lot. The parade continues out of Vine Lake Cemetery down Grove St and onto route 27 to West Street and into the American Legion Post on Peter Kristof Way. At that time a brief ceremony to re-dedicate Peter Kristof Way is planned . Our nations flag will be raised to full staff to honor all our current service men and women and all living veterans, thus ending our program. The Son’s of the American Legion will have prepared refreshments for all participants as the parade disburses.

The Sons of the Legion affiliated with Post 110 in Medfield conducted a Fishing Derby for children ages 12 and under on Sunday April 27 at Vine Lake from 7 AM till noon. Trophies were awarded in age groups. Proceeds will support the Sons High School Scholarships.

On Tuesday April 26th 2016 the Post recognized the service of several Past Commanders. Present were Bill Mann, Bob Farrell, Frank Iafolla,  Phil Burr, Jack Fernandez. Tom Seeley, Paul Foscaldo, Robert Tannler, Bill Drengberg, Lee Treadway and Al Manganello. 

In addition a slate of Officers were nominated to serve for 2016-2017. They include:

Paul Galofaro Commander, David Conner, Jr. Sr. Vice Commander, Karl Schwartz Finance, Tony Centore Adjutant, Ron Griffin Service Officer, Len Haigh Sgt at Arms, Rich Allen Chaplin, William Mann Historian, and Paul Foscaldo Judge Advocate.  Ron Griffin was appointed to E Board and Karl Schwartz and David Conner were appointed Delegates.

2016 Boys State Program is well under way. PC Karl Schwartz says the the Legion working together with the Auxiliary, and Sons the Legion are sending 27  boys and girls to this years event at Curry College 2nd week in June.
